I am a computer geek living in Los Altos (California) with my wife Susan and two young children (our daughter Kiran  and our son Kavi).  I work for Google in Mountain View and my wife Susan works for Hewlett-Packard’s research labs in Palo Alto (Susan joined HP in 2000).

From 2004 until November 2011 I worked for Microsoft, initially in Redmond, Washington, in incubation and product groups and then in 2006 I transferred to Microsoft’s research laboratory in Cambridge UK.

From 1998 to 2004 I worked for a silicon chip company called Xilinx in San Jose.

From 1991 until  1997 I was a lecturer at the University of Glasgow in the department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering and also the department of Computing Science.

Currently I am also a part-time full professor at the University of Birmingham (my website there). I have also worked for British Telecom, VLSI Technology and European Silicon Structures. I am also a visiting professor at Imperial College and a visiting academic at Chalmers Technical University in Sweden.
